the story of my dog Peachy , or how I became a homeopath

That's my old home in thiruvalla , where I first met my pet whom we call Peachy. peachy was not in this shape when I first saw him in 2004. he was a fearsome and sorry to say a disgusting vision with no hair on his body, with aterribly offensive odour and there were ulcers and sores on his body probably from having been stoned, for most people were quite frightened to see him and picked up and threw stones immediately. there was a thin chain dangling from his neck which told me he belonged to some master once before he got afflicted by this terrible disease which I thought was mange.
              being sympathetic towards dogs and feeling sorry for him once I found him at the end of our street and gave him some food. seeing my sympathy he began to stick around in our compound ,. one june end day I remember because the next day was my daughter's birthday my parents were visiting and all had gone out for some fresh air and I was resting .. I saw peachy almost weak and fully collapsed with hardly any life in him.
  the other day I had given him some boiled egg and he had hungrily gobbled it, so I thought I will try calcarea carb a homeopathic medicine. by that time I was not prescribing homeopathy, but was just sympathetic to it having had some good effects in myself and my wife. so I gave him calcarea carb 1m laid the pills on the floor and he licked them up. the next day I thought the dog would have died but to my surprise found him running around I decided to watch him for a week in a week he seemed to be improving with energy coming back and starting to move.
 about a month later he was still looking much better and I decided to apply another homeopathic remedy which is usually given after calcarea( by then I knew very little homeopathy).this remedy is Lycopodium.on giving lycopodium the next day Peachy showed a lot of vivacity ,running around bustling with energy. within a few days hair started to grow.already after calcarea some little hair growth had started on the head, now after this second remedy hair started to grow on the trunkand the back, also simultaneously a yellowish discharge (what appeared to be pus) started from its penis(urethra)...literally dripping pus on and off throughout the day. my wife had to be very busy cleaning our balcony and portico which was getting soiled with all the discharge.
  after another month had gone by I saw the dog had become very itchy,much more than before and patches of alopecia started to come again, also the left eye turned red and scratchy. by then I knew these could be symptoms of sulphur and so gave sulphur 30. the next day I witnessed a similar reaction with lot of jumping and prancing about , due to an obvious increase in energy.and the pus discharge continued ,unrelenting.
simultaneously the dog peachy got back almost all its hair back except in the perineum and the hind limbs.the hair in the tail was long and golden in colour as on the rest of the body. Peachy had grown confident and developed courage enough to bark when anybody came home.from a scared and frightened sick dog it had changed into a handsome, confident dog.
for nearly a year there were no much problems , I treated some acute illnesses with medicines like opium and bryonia. and some injuries with the homeopathic injury remedies.
after an year this dog which still used to be around our house was noticed by our neighbour to have a tummor on its chest.I examined the dog to find out that it was a Lipoma a benign fatty tumor about 10 cms in diameter.since I worked as a cytologist in the hospital seeing such tumors was a common clinical experience for me and I could easily recognize it as a lipoma.
by this time I had started reading homeopathy books with great enthusiasm because I was very interested in applying this wonderful system of healing to human patients whom I was seeing everyday in the hospital.just the day before I was reading a case by a famous English Homeopath called compton burnett who had given a medicine called Thuja 30 for a thoracic lipoma as in this dog ,so I also decided to try thuja 30 and gave him the medicine that very morning......to my shock and surprise the tumor started to dissolve...that's the best way to describe what I saw from day to day the swelling became softer,boggy and began to collapse and by the 7th day was just a bag of loose skin.however, the skin problem with los of hair had come back in a restricted form to all the four paws.
  so I waited until the patchy hair loss started to recur and after a week or so again repeated the calcarea -lycopodim-sulphur rotation and in about six months Peachy was well again and fully recovered.
this happened in 2004 now for the past eight years the dog has been with me , and the old severe problems have not come back from time to time I treat any severe acute illness mainly a croupy barking cough that returns every winter with bryonia or pulsatilla, otherwise it is doing well.it mated with a female and resulted in two litters and enjoys a fulfilling life although I have o keep it chained now since it is ferocious to atrangers otherwise.
